Plus One Gallery is pleased to present the solo show of gallery artist Christian Marsh. The exhibition titled ‘The Art of Travel’, opens with a private view on Tuesday 13th June and runs until 8th July.
The exhibition will include old works as well as new pieces based on his travels in Miami and Nice. Within all his work Marsh strives to capture the experience of his travels and personal connection with a place. He wants the viewer to experience in his work the atmosphere of a location. Christian Marsh hopes this show will be …
“Exciting, enlightening and welcoming. I hope that the paintings do not just replicate a scene but capture the essence and life within that scene and give the viewer a sense of feeling what it’s like to be actually there”
His choice to paint in a hyperreal style is very deliberate; he feels this medium allows him to include everything and make each small fragment of a painting as important as each other – creating scenes within scenes. The inclusion of figures in his paintings is also very important to Marsh. He uses them to include subtle narrative and help create the overall atmosphere, as well as inviting interaction between viewer and painting. It is this approach along with his beautiful rendition of light and compositions, which creates works that really can be named the art of travel.
“[I aim to explore] the relationships between me and my experiences abroad. A reaction to that environment, the light, the people and the essence and the feeling of that particular location”
