Last Exit: The final Solo Show of 2012 featuring the highest caliber of hyperrealist pencil drawings by Andrew Holmes, expect a variety of motor vehicles in fascinating detail.

The exhibition sees a continuation of Andrew Holmes’ interests in the impact of an oil hungry civilization. His early work, produced during the boom years, was concerned with the effects of the US Interstate system on the lives of its users.

More recently, reflecting the changed economic, political, and social circumstances, this has seen the construction of a mobile sculpture in California, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who in mythology announce the end of the world. To update the myth the horsemen were constructed from four Ford Thunderbird Landau Coupes built in the 1970s, the era of the first oil crisis.

The core of the new exhibition, Last Exit, brings the repercussions of the relationship to a conclusion. Expressing the continuing descent into corruption on one hand and poverty on the other there will be four new drawings representing different aspects of the four horsemen - Victory, War, Pestilence and Death. Bracketing these works are two images that mirror the perverse pride and glorification in the civilisation’s own destruction.
