Munoz Vera and the School of Chinchon
Muñoz Vera was born in Concepción, Chile, in 1956. He has been living in Spain for 20 years. In the last 10 years, he has added a new flair to his unarguable ability as a painter: exceptional organizational skills and artistic mastery. The School of Chinchón, now presented in London, is the synthesis of an artist as a creator and performer and his ability to promote, teach and talk about his work.
Muñoz Vera together with the Spanish painter Carmen Spínola, and later with a group of younger artists, constantly in the process of renewal, constitute a clear and important reference of what some already call 'the new Spanish realism', which has a renaissance splendour in its structure.
This new Spanish realism is a new global realism and its geographical centre is Chinchón, a provincial town south of Madrid, which could easily be identified with the old Castilian siesta, but has a bubbling artistic movement of realist artists, mainly of Chilean origins, but also from Colombia, Peru, Spain, Mexico and Japan.
